I often get asked "what do YOU eat?" Its a fair question as I advocate a healthy, balanced diet, eating in season and as much organic if/when possible. So here are some of my kitchen cupboard essentials and also my regular ingredients for this winter season:
Dry pantry items I always stock:
- brown rice, buckwheat, millet, black rice, red rice (if I can get hold of some in Shg)
- buckwheat noodles (yes they do have wheat)
- brown rice pasta
- coconut oil (not consumed in the middle of winter though, too cooling)
- cranberries, raisins, a range of unsweetened, unsalted nuts
- Tamari (wheat free soy sauce), sea salt, pepper, oregano, dried Italian and Indian spices and herbs
Seasonal vegetables and fruits:
- organic strawberries
- blueberries (either imported or from Yunnan)
- oranges
- organic carrots, raddish, cruciferous vegetables, sweet potato, leek, leafy greens (there are always greens available in different seasons! no exucses)
Regular organic CSA box items:
- tofu block or tofu gan (the thin squares of tofu)
- free range eggs
